2. Hosting and technical provision
All services run exclusively on our own servers in our own data centre in the greater Hanover area (Germany). The data centre is also operated by Wienold-IT UG (haftungsbeschränkt). There are no data-processing agreements with third parties within the meaning of Art. 28 GDPR.
3. Visiting this website
When you visit counttally.com purely for information, we process no personal data whatsoever. No cookies, no tracking tools, no analytics services (Google Analytics or similar), no advertising and no social-media plugins are used. Fonts are also served locally – nothing is fetched from external servers.
We only store anonymised server log files for a maximum of 7 days for security and operational purposes (including a shortened IP address, timestamp, page accessed). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in security and stability).
4. The CountTally app (offline)
CountTally is offline-first and works entirely without an account and without an internet connection. Your counters, histories, groups and settings are stored exclusively locally on your device and encrypted there with AES (SQLCipher). This data does not leave your device unless you actively use an optional sync or export function. We have no access to it.
5. Optional sync & collaboration (only if you enable it)
In future you will be able to optionally enable a self-hosted sync as well as real-time collaboration. Only then is data – encrypted – exchanged with our server (api/ws.counttally.com), and an account is created via our authentication service (auth.counttally.com, Keycloak) for sign-in. The data needed for synchronisation/sign-in is then processed (e.g. counter data, device/user identifier, e-mail for sign-in). Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (performance of a contract) or Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent). Without enabling these functions, no such processing takes place.
6. Advertising & in-app purchases
The app is planned to be ad-supported (freemium). No advertising is shown in the web and desktop versions. If advertising is used in the mobile app in future, this will only happen after separate notice and – where required – on the basis of your consent via a consent banner. Until then the advertising layer is inactive.
7. Contacting us by e-mail
If you contact us by e-mail, we process your data exclusively to handle your enquiry and any subsequent correspondence. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) or Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. The data is deleted once communication is concluded, unless statutory retention periods apply.
8. Data subject rights (Art. 15–22 GDPR)
You have the right at any time to free information, rectification, erasure (“right to be forgotten”), restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing. Just send us an e-mail — we will take care of it right away.
9. Withdrawal of consent
If you have ever given consent (e.g. for sync or advertising), you can withdraw it at any time with effect for the future.
10. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Lower Saxony, the competent authority is:

11. Dispute resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for online dispute resolution (ODR): https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We are neither obliged nor willing to participate in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
12. Scope
This privacy policy applies to the domain counttally.com including its subdomains as well as to the CountTally app. The privacy policy of the parent domain wienold-it.de applies in addition.
